Joel and I had a wonderful time capturing the wedding. We know you guys can’t wait to see the photos and we can’t wait t show you. Here is a sneak peek to hold you over until you see the rest. Enjoy! 🙂
Joel and I had the opportunity to photograph Julie and Jonathon this past weekend and we had a blast. The Cullen Sculpture Garden at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston is a jewel in Houston that I always love going to. We all had a wonderful time and they were great sports about being photographed in the rain! 🙂 We can’t wait to show you the rest of the photos!
In this video we show you a very simple setup of one flash and a softbox. This is the easiest setup to start with and we have been using this setup for our portraits for many years. When I first started wedding photography I just used one flash on the top of my camera with a diffuser and had it angled at 45 degrees. The photos came out okay because the photos captured the emotion of the people and made my brides happy but I wanted it to be better. Slowly but surely I build up my equipment and learned from other photographers and the internet how to use off camera flash. When I got really good at it I noticed what a difference it made in my photos. With the off camera flash they are more dramatic and dynamic and they have better color. It just made such a difference! I hear lots of people are natural light photographers (I love shooting in natural light too!) and that works great but I feel that photographers need to know how to photograph in all lighting situations. “Better safe than sorry” is one of the mottos that I live by.) We know off camera lighting can be intimidating but it does not have to be. Joel and I are going to start an online off camera lighting series and we are going to take you through it step by step and make it easy to understand and remember. We have several video ideas if you have any suggestions we would love to hear them! Make sure to SUBSCRIBE to my YouTube Channel so you don’t miss future videos!! I personally like taking dramatic photos. When I saw another photographers work using a glass prism to add more emphasis and drama to their photos I just loved it and knew I had to try it. We have taken photos with the prism at weddings and our brides just love the way they come out. In our video we show you which prism to get, which lenses to use and we show you how to use it. We have a part 2 coming up next week so stay tuned for that. Leave us a comment below or on Youtube and we would love to hear your suggestions for future videos.
This is a video on how to light at night using speed lights with no ambient light. If you liked this video visit my YouTube channel for more and don’t forget to subscribe! We would love to have you! One of my favorite things about weddings in seeing all the different dresses and how beautiful each bride is. When I saw Jeanie in her dress it put a huge smile on my face. She was GORGEOUS!! I really believe Jeanie brings good luck because the weather was absolutely PERFECT. During our consultation we showed a gallery wrap of one of my favorite bridal portraits at Rice University and that is why she decide to go ahead and have her bridal session at Rice University also. I hope you enjoy the photos from her bridal session.
Joel and I had a wonderful time capturing Sarah and Jeremy’s wedding day. You could see how much they love each other. I thought it was so sweet that they kept kissing after they were announced husband and wife. They have such a sweet family with their daughter Ryleigh and I know they are going to be happily married for many years to come!! 🙂 I hope you enjoy the photos and don’t forget to take a look at the slideshow at the bottom of this page. The trip from Atlanta, GA to Richmond, VA was shorter then Houston, to Atlanta. I have been to the Shenandoah mountains back in 2006 but have always wanted to go back and Joel had never been before so we thought this was the perfect time to go. We both have seen mountains before but we never get tired of seeing the beautiful views. Here are some of our favorite photos and make sure you check out the vlog to see more of these beautiful mountains. Enjoy! 🙂
